“Abandon wisdom and discard cleverness, and the people benefit a hundredfold. Abandon benevolence and discard righteousness, and people return to natural affection.”
绝圣弃智，民利百倍；绝仁弃义，民复孝慈；绝巧弃利，盗贼无有。此三者以为文不足，故令有所属：见素抱朴，少私寡欲。
Unlearn what society has taught you about how to be "good enough." Strip away the shoulds and musts. Beneath all that conditioning, your true nature is already whole.
绝圣弃智——去除人为的圣明智巧。
绝仁弃义——弃绝伪善的仁义。
绝巧弃利——抛弃巧诈和私利。
见素抱朴——呈现本真，持守质朴。
少私寡欲——减少私心和欲望。
这是老子对人文异化的深刻批判。
