江海所以能为百谷王者
The river and sea are king of all valleys

江海所以能为百谷王者，以其善下之，故能为百谷王。是以欲上民，必以言下之；欲先民，必以身后之。是以圣人处上而民不重，处前而民不害。是以天下乐推而不厌。以其不争，故天下莫能与之争。
The most respected people are those who do not demand respect. They earn it through humility. If you want to lead, first learn to serve. Influence follows service.
江海所以能为百谷王者以其善下之——江海成为百川之王是因为善于处在低下位置。
欲上民必以言下之——想领导人民必须言语谦下。
欲先民必以身后之——想引导人民必须把自己放在后面。
以其不争故天下莫能与之争——正因为不争，天下才无人能与之争。
