Three treasures: compassion, frugality, humility
“I have three treasures I hold and keep: The first is compassion. The second is frugality. The third is daring not to be first in the world.”
天下皆谓我道大，似不肖。夫唯大，故似不肖。若肖，久矣其细也夫！我有三宝，持而保之：一曰慈，二曰俭，三曰不敢为天下先。慈故能勇，俭故能广，不敢为天下先故能成器长。今舍慈且勇，舍俭且广，舍后且先，死矣！夫慈，以战则胜，以守则固。天将救之，以慈卫之。
Three simple treasures: be kind, be moderate, be humble. No philosophy degree required. If you practice these three things daily, your life will transform.
我有三宝持而保之——三件法宝：慈（慈爱）、俭（节俭）、不敢为天下先（谦退）。
慈故能勇——慈爱所以勇敢。
俭故能广——节俭所以宽广。
不敢为天下先故能成器长——谦退所以成为万物之长。
今舍慈且勇舍俭且广舍后且先死矣——舍弃三宝去追逐勇、广、先，是死路。
夫慈以战则胜以守则固——以慈爱作战则胜，防守则固。
